Berna Cloyd, a junior pitcher for Mt. Miguel High School, pitched the third no-hitter of her career and first this season as the Matadors routed Valhalla, 13-0, in a Grossmont League game Friday.

Cloyd faced one batter over the limit. She gave up a walk, but the runner was thrown out stealing. The only other baserunner reached base on an error. Cloyd also struck out five.

Kristi Bache of University of San Diego High ran the fastest 800-meter time in the county, 2:13.41, to finish third in the Arcadia Invitational on Saturday. But that was secondary for Bache. She beat Kristina Hand of Fallbrook for the first time.

“I always finish second,” said Bache, a senior. “I missed going to state when I was a sophomore because I lost to her by one one-hundredth of a second.”

Morse’s Stacy Thompson went past her previous county-best mark in the triple jump three times last week. Thompson, whose previous best was 37-3, jumped 38-7 3/4 to win at the Poway Track Festival on Saturday and then came back to finish fourth at the Arcadia Invitational (38-2). She also jumped 38-2 in a dual meet on Thursday.
