Injury to Delay Watts’ Return by Two Weeks
- Share via
Quincy Watts of Taft, the defending state champion in the 100 and 200 meters, is expected to be sidelined for an additional two weeks because of a hamstring injury he suffered in Friday’s West Valley League dual meet at El Camino Real.
Watts pulled the muscle midway through the 100-meter dash and subsequently missed the Arcadia Invitational on Saturday night.
“We didn’t want to risk the whole season for one meet,” Taft assistant Hilliard Sumner said Sunday. “We do not believe that the injury is serious, I spoke with Quincy this morning and he said it feels much better. But we don’t want to bring him back too quickly.”
Sumner hopes Watts will make his return in the Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut on April 23.
