Ivy Pinkerton, Western Beat Granger, 1-0

Western High School pitcher Ivy Pinkerton won a pitchers’ duel from Valencia’s Michele Granger by throwing a one-hitter Tuesday to lead Western to a 1-0 Orange League victory over Valencia.

Pinkerton is 3-0 this season. Granger (12-2) allowed three hits and struck out 10. Western’s run was unearned.

Western’s Lisa Sciarrino reached base in the fourth inning on an error. She moved to second on a passed ball and to third on a base hit. Sciarrino, a sophomore catcher, scored on another passed ball.

The game was the Orange League opener for both teams. Valencia is 13-4.
