Roundup : Ondracek Throws No-Hitter to Lead Tustin Over Corona del Mar

Jayme Ondracek pitched her first no-hitter of the season and had seven strikeouts to lead Tustin High School to an 11-0 victory over Corona del Mar in a Sea View League softball game called after six innings on a mercy rule Wednesday at Corona del Mar.

Heather Deardon had a three-run home run in the sixth inning for Tustin (9-3, 6-0). Deardon was was 3 for 4 with 5 RBIs.

In other Sea View League softball games:

Estancia 14, Newport Harbor 5--Estancia’s Marie Midland was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs. Winning pitcher Kellie Kane gave up one hit, but walked nine. Jenny Ryan took the loss for host Newport Harbor (0-6).

University 4, Saddleback 2--Terrie Hubbard singled in Michele Bell in the bottom of the sixth to provide the winning run for University (7-5, 5-1). Nikkanni Andrews and Renee Paloma hit home runs for Saddleback (9-4, 2-4).

In the South Coast League:

Mission Viejo 4, San Clemente 3--Debbie Lobato hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to spark Mission Viejo.

Irvine 2, Dana Hills 1 (8 innings)--Ha Sherwood scored the winning run from third base in the eighth inning on third baseman Staci Cox’s throwing error at Harvard Park. Sherwood singled, went to second on a sacrifice and took third on an illegal pitch. Cox fielded a grounder by Erica Koch, but her throw to first base was wild. Jennifer Brundage (7-6) was the winning pitcher for Irvine (9-7, 1-0). Jackie Volkert took the loss for Dana Hills (0-1 in league play).

Capistrano Valley 3, El Toro 2--Jennifer Smith (13-3) pitched a complete game for Capistrano Valley (13-1, 1-0). Robyn Kobayashi drove in the winning run by hitting into a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh inning.

In Orange League golf:

Valencia 196, Western 213--Valencia (13-0, 5-0) won its 32nd straight match. J.B. Broms shot a one-over par 36 and Chris Tidland shot a two-over 37 to lead Valencia at Dad Miller Golf Course.

In Pacific Coast League golf:

Laguna Beach 200, Trabuco Hills 216--John Gilles shot a two-over 34 to lead host Laguna Beach at Aliso Creek Golf Course.

In South Coast League tennis:

Dana Hills 17, San Clemente 1--Junior Chris Stevens swept his sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, and his freshman brother, Ben, swept his, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, to lead Dana Hills (11-3, 4-0) at San Clemente.

In Orange League tennis:

Valencia 16, Western 2--Eric Flint and Colin Robinson, Valencia’s No. 1 doubles team, swept three sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for host Valencia (11-1, 8-0).

Anaheim 12, Savanna 6--Andy Sprague and Khanh Nguyen, Anahiem’s No. 1 doubles team, swept their sets, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2, for host Anaheim (10-1, 7-1). Jack Kuei and Dean Nguyen, Anaheim’s No. 2 doubles team, also swept, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.

In South Coast league tennis:

Capistrano Valley 12, Mission Viejo 6--Rich Chavez and Bret Thurlow swept their singles to lead Capistrano Valley (5-8, 2-2) at Mission Viejo (0-12, 0-4).

In Sea View League boys’ swimming:

Tustin 116, Saddleback 26--Paul Barrera, Joe Adrian and Don Adrian each won two events to lead Tustin at Saddleback.

In Pacific Coast League boys’ swimming:

Woodbridge 103, Laguna Beach 54--Brian Fischer won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:04.01 and the 100 backstroke in 59.72. Brian Stoeckel of Laguna Beach won the 100 butterfly in 57.53.

In Century League boys’ track and field:

Santa Ana Valley 67 1/2, Canyon 64 1/2--Santa Ana Valley’s 400-meter relay had a time of 44.5 seconds to lead Santa Ana Valley.

In Garden Grove League volleyball:

La Quinta 3, Rancho Alamitos 0--Craig Frisby had 13 kills and Bryan Petersen had 18 assists to lead host La Quinta (7-4, 6-0), 15-2, 15-2, 15-4.

In the Sunset League:

Marina 3, Westminster 0--Braden Coenen had 10 kills to lead host Marina (6-3, 2-1), 15-1, 15-7, 15-6.
