City Track Finals Are Today
The 54th City Section track finals, featuring a showdown in the 200-meter dash between Bryan Bridgewater from Washington High School of Los Angeles and Quincy Watts from Taft of Woodland Hills, will be held today at Birmingham High in Van Nuys. Field events begin at 3 p.m. The first race is set for 4:30.
Bridgewater set a City record of 20.53 in the semifinals last week. Watts, a two-time state champion in the 200, has run a 20.50, but that was in the altitude of Provo, Utah.
Taft has won the last two team titles. Locke of Los Angeles is the four-time defending champion in the girls’ division.
The top four finishers in each event qualify for the state meet next week at Cerritos College.
