Julio Vargas, John Cummings Top the Century
Catcher Julio Vargas of Santa Ana High School and pitcher John Cummings of Canyon were named Century League players of the year in a vote of the league’s baseball coaches.
Vargas batted .442 and allowed only 5 stolen bases. Cummings was 9-3 with a county-leading 115 strikeouts.
