In regard to your articles about San Fernando beating Chatsworth and Monroe stunning the defending champion Canoga Park team, let me tell you that I, along with hundreds of people who have followed the youth baseball careers of the Tiger and Viking players, knew that it was possible, in fact, probable that these two teams could win. They are quality teams with players who have been tested at every level of Little League play, including the 1985 World Series.
Mission Hills Little League is one of the primary leagues that feeds into Monroe, Kennedy and San Fernando and provides the quality players who are the keys to these Mid-Valley League teams’ rise to power.
All The Times has to do is check its own sports section in 1985 and find that Frank Serna, Tim Costic and Brian Eldridge were three of the main reasons that Mission Hills Little League finished fourth in the world in 1985. You will find that the 1986 Mission Hills team finished third in Southern California.
The performance of these two teams has stunned no one who was associated with the 1985 or 1986 Mission Hills team.
