Big Gun in a Little Film?

You like Carole Little’s clothes? Wait till you see her film. An impeccable source tells us the L.A. designer and her computer-whiz husband, Leonard Rabinowitz, have teamed with the inimitable Dyan Cannon to make a movie. About what, we have no idea. But we think Cannon’s dynamite, and we’re sure the film will be too. Our source tells us that Cannon wrote it, Carole and Leonard are in on the backing, and Carole will probably design some of the clothes. We phoned her to get it straight from the backer’s mouth, but she wouldn’t talk.

A Lady in Waiting

Cristina Ferrare Thomopoulos picked a peck of pretty colors at Pea in the Pod maternity shop the other day. We saw her choosing brilliant red, jade green and royal blue for the wardrobe she’ll wear while awaiting her baby, due in March. You’ll probably see some of the clothes on “AM Los Angeles,” which she co-hosts with Steve Edwards. Just look for a two-piece jade jersey dress, among other things. Thomopoulos, who was out shopping with her mother, said she’s just beginning to get her “waiting” wardrobe together.

Slight of Foot

Two big names bought little shoes at the new Silver Feet store in Brentwood. Co-owner Patti Silver tells us that Dolly Parton selected two pairs of minuscule cowboy boots “for her grandchildren.” Bette Midler outfitted her 1-year-old daughter in four pairs of casual shoes. Seems Midler “doesn’t like frilly things,” Silver says, so she opted for nothing fancier than patterned leather Keds and denim hightops.

Artistic License

Marilu Henner of “Taxi” fame hot-footed it to the Ciao shoe boutique on Melrose Avenue to add six pairs of high heels and dressy flats to her wardrobe. Among the stash: two identical pairs, each in mint green and black lizard. We really get a kick out of the name the store gave to the hand-paint-splattered pair Henner ordered in black, turquoise, pink and white. Ciao’s Melissa Welles calls that model the Jackson Pollock.

Saving Grace

Grace Jones, in town briefly to complete a new album, was not only lucky with her luggage (it got here several days before she did), she was given a sterling reception. Michael Dawkins, owner of the M Gallery on Sunset Boulevard, made a pair of silver drop earrings for Jones to wear during a photo shoot. How did he know what she’d like? Dawkins tells us he and Jones are friends. Such good friends that he tended her luggage until she arrived to claim it.

Courting a New Look

Jill Eikenberry, a regular on “L.A. Law,” has been shopping around for items for the new fall season, we hear from the folks at Theo Couture. And we wonder if she’ll set a new trend with the “power blouse” she ordered in several fabrics. Judy Yaras, the Los Angeles boutique’s in-house designer, says the blouse has a stand-up collar, and it buttons down the front for an asymmetric effect. She says it’s nothing like the surplice style that Susan Dey wears on the show so often that people call it the “ ‘L.A. Law’ blouse.” “We’re keeping away from that style,” Yaras says. “Jill’s is a modern, forward, design; Susan’s look is more vulnerable.” Eikenberry also ordered jackets, skirts and coatdresses, Yaras reports.
