Harvard 15, South Pasadena 12--Jun Yi caught a six-yard scoring pass from quarterback Scott Collins with 46 seconds remaining to lift the mistake-prone Saracens at South Pasadena.

Wide receiver Iheanyi Uwaezuoke sparked the 58-yard, 9-play drive, making 2 receptions, including a 13-yarder that moved the ball to the Tigers’ one-yard line. After an illegal procedure penalty moved the ball to the six, Collins (8 of 13 for 109 yards) responded with the winning pass.

Wishon Lee returned the ensuing kickoff to South Pasadena’s 48-yard line, and the Tigers drove to the Harvard 13 as time expired.

Harvard’s first touchdown came 4:51 before halftime when Barry Burch intercepted a pass by Mech Williams and returned it three yards for the score.

The Saracens lost three fumbles inside the Tigers’ 20-yard line and fumbled four times altogether.

Harvard also lost Marty Holly, last year’s Santa Fe League Back of the Year, after he sustained a thigh injury in the second quarter. He went out with 105 yards in 18 carries but expects to return for next week’s home opener against Beverly Hills.

South Pasadena’s J. J. Young rushed for a game-high 122 in 7 carries and Lee added 89 in 12 carries and a 29-yard touchdown. Williams completed 5 of 14 passes for 119 yards.
