Community College Roundup : Litwak’s Goal Gives OCC a Water Polo Victory

Tony Litwak’s goal gave Orange Coast College a 13-12 sudden-death victory over Saddleback in the Orange Empire Conference water polo match Tuesday at Saddleback. Mike Kennedy led OCC (7-1, 1-0) with 4 goals, Litwak had 3 and John Wilson 2.

Saddleback is the defending conference champion and OCC won the title in 1986. It was the conference opener for both teams.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Golden West 2, Glendale 1--Mazen Zakaria scored with 19 minutes left to break a 1-1 tie on a muddy field at Glendale.

Glendale scored with 22 minutes left in the first half, but Golden West tied it on a goal by Neil Payne 4 minutes later.

Jeff Klein had 4 saves in the first half and Rick Hollis 7 in the second half for Golden West (4-2).

Cypress 3, San Diego City 3--Danny Vela, Michael Kudron and Danny Searle scored for Cypress (1-2-1) at San Diego City.

Orange Coast 3, Southwestern 1--Pat Merrell, Kevin Kynoch and Cesar Zamarripa scored for the Pirates at Southwestern.
