Ventura 24, Westlake 3--Chris Thomas returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown and caught a 52-yard pass from quarterback Tim Albrent to lead the Cougars in a nonleague game at home.

Thomas had 4 receptions for 110 yards and Albrent completed 7 of 14 passes for 173 yards.

Tailback Danny Taylor rushed for 100 yards in 16 carries as Ventura defeated Westlake for the third consecutive year.

The Warriors lone score came on a 33-yard field goal by Luke Crawford with 7:50 to play in the third quarter. Keith Burke paced Westlake with 94 yards in 17 carries. Warrior Todd Preston completed 9 of 25 passes for 112 yards and had 3 passes intercepted.
