Dos Pueblos 20, Rio Mesa 18--Rio Mesa quarterback John Gomez threw a 12-yard touchdown to wide receiver David LaSalle with 10 seconds to play, but Dos Pueblos stopped Charlie Arceo’s 2-point conversion run at San Marcos High.

Gomez led all rushers with 103 yards in 15 carries and completed 7 of 18 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Running back Jeff Uyesaka paced Dos Pueblos with 64 yards in 17 carries and had 1-yard touchdown run with 3:52 left to put Dos Pueblos ahead, 20-12.

Arceo rushed for 42 yards in 9 carries and scored on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter to cut the Dos Pueblos lead to 14-12 with 9:13 left.

Jerid Kupelian stripped the ball from Rio Mesa punt returner Kevin Smith at the Dos Pueblos 45-yard line and returned it for a 55-yard touchdown to give the Chargers a 7-0 halftime lead.
