The Compton Lady Tar Babes beat Long Beach Jordan, 53-46, on Saturday to win the South Torrance High Girls’ Basketball Tournament.

Tournament MVP Christina Perez scored 13 points for Compton, but it was her aggressive defense and ball handling late in the game that doomed the Lady Panthers.

Perez and her teammates held All-Tournament performer Marian Blaylock, who led all scorers with 25 points, to only 3 points in the last quarter. Sharnette McMillan, another All-Tournament pick, led Compton with 23.
