CS Northridge Opens WIVA Season on Road

Cal State Northridge, coming off an impressive nonconference victory over Chapman, begins Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. play tonight at Pepperdine.
Northridge (1-0) lost to Pepperdine two weeks ago at the 24-team Santa Barbara tournament in a match that does not count on either team’s overall record. Pepperdine, ranked fifth in the nation, finished third at the Santa Barbara tournament.
Northridge, which finished 7-11 in the WIVA last season, is led by outside hitter Bob Samuelson, who had 7 kills in the Matadors’ sweep against Chapman on Thursday.
