Helix 48, Valhalla 35--Julie O’Neal scored a game-high 21 points to lead visiting Helix (9-7).

Santana 70, Mt. Miguel 28--Rebecca Aase scored 29 points, and Tammy Vates added 16 for Santana (16-2). Santana led, 34-14, at halftime.

Palomar League

Poway 52, Mt. Carmel 49 (OT)--The score was tied, 44-44, at the end of regulation. In the last 2 minutes of overtime, Dawn Gigstad and Laura Nugent combined to put Poway in a tie with Vista for first place in the league (15-7, 7-1). With 2 seconds left, Mt. Carmel (12-9, 5-3) came up short on a final 3-point effort by Vicki deJesus. Gigstad and Nugent each scored 16 points.

Torrey Pines 58, Orange Glen 38--Torrey Pines (11-7) improved to 2-5 in the league. Last-place Orange Glen dropped to 5-14 and 0-6.

Avocado League

Vista 73, Fallbrook 43--Chris Enger scored a game-high 32 to lead Vista. “It’s her normal night,” Vista Coach Joe DeMaria said. “There’s not really a team in our league that has a big girl to match up against her.” Dana Christofferson added 15 for Vista and led the Panthers in rebounding with 12. Brooke Risner and Kelli Schott had 10 apiece for Vista (18-3, 7-1).

Ramona 67, Escondido 47--Kendra Brunje scored 21 of her 25 points in the first half for Ramona (13-3, 7-2). Both Brunje and Kris Miller each had 13 rebounds. Miller added 18 points.

San Pasqual 38, El Camino 23--San Pasqual led, 12-0, in the first quarter but was held to two points in the second to lead, 14-6, at halftime. El Camino is 3-13 and 2-7.

City Central League

Our Lady of Peace 50, Crawford 40--Tammy Tavares scored 14 points to help Our Lady of Peace (15-4, 4-0) remain undefeated in league. April Velt had 11 rebounds, and Deanna Beauparlant had 10 for Our Lady of Peace (1-4).

Boys

Nonleague

Helix 58, Valhalla 48--Valhalla (13-7) led, 21-20, at halftime but was outscored by visiting Helix, 17-11, in the fourth quarter. John Pressler scored 32 points for Helix (14-5).

El Cajon Valley 62, El Capitan 54--Kevin Davis scored 24 points, and Litho Solomon added 18 for El Cajon Valley. El Cajon Valley jumped to a 20-12 first quarter lead but only led 33-28 at halftime.

Santana 55, Mt. Miguel 50--Paul Newark scored with one minute remaining to give Santana the lead, 51-50. Jason Maloney and Matt Panebianco each hit two free throws with less than 30 seconds left to secure the victory. Panebianco led the scoring with 20 points. Dean Thrall led in rebounds (11) and added 19 points for Santana.

Monte Vista 77, Grossmont 51--Monte Vista (11-4) took charge early and routed host Grossmont (6-13), led by Joe McNaull’s 27 points, 20 rebounds and 16 blocked shots. Jeff Polinski’s added 22 for Monte Vista.
