SOUTHERN SECTION 5-A BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS : Molle Brothers Provide Balance in Irvine’s Victory
Senior center Raphael Molle and sophomore forward John Molle each scored 16 points to lead Irvine High School to a 76-42 victory over Gahr in the second round of the Southern Section 5-A playoffs Friday at Irvine.
Guard Bryan Allred added 12 points and Todd Trout had 10.
Ray Johnson scored 12 points and Mark Charbonet added 11 for Gahr, which ends the season, 17-9. Irvine led, 34-27, at the half and moved to a 52-35 lead after three quarters.
Irvine led, 55-35, its biggest margin of the game on a free throw by John Molle early in the fourth quarter. Irvine, the No. 2 team from the South Coast League is 22-5.
Irvine made five three-point baskets, three by Allred.
