State Regional Basketball Pairings : Crenshaw, Manual Arts Seeded 1-2 in Boys’ Regional Pairings

Crenshaw (21-2) and Manual Arts (24-1), which met for the Los Angeles City Section 4-A title last Friday with Crenshaw winning, 85-72, are the top two seeded teams in Division I of the Southern California boys’ regional basketball pairings released Sunday.

Millikan (25-6), Southern Section 5-AA champion, is seeded third and Fresno Edison (21-6), Central Section champion, fourth.

First round games are Tuesday night and the semifinals are scheduled for Thursday. The Division I, II and III finals for both boys and girls will be played at the Sports Arena on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Division IV and V finals will be played Saturday at Cerritos College beginning at 2:30 p.m.

In first round games, Crenshaw plays host to San Diego Section champion Poway (23-4) and Manual Arts travels to Capistrano Valley (24-4), the Southern Section 5-A champion. Millikan will play host to Fremont (25-3), the City 3-A champion and Saddleback (27-2) will travel to Fresno Edison.

In the girls’ Division I, Southern Section 5-AA champion Morningside (29-1) is top-seeded and plays host to Marshall (18-2), the City 3-A champion. San Diego Section champion Point Loma (30-1) is seeded second and plays host to Santa Barbara (21-8), the Southern Section 5-A runner-up.

In a very tough matchup, third-seeded Hart (25-2), the Southern Section 5-A champion, plays host to Fontana (27-2), the Southern Section 5-AA runner-up. Los Angeles City Section champion Washington (22-4) is fourth-seeded and is home against Hanford (20-7), the Central Section champion.
