San Fernando 9, La Canada 1--Junior left-hander Hector De La Cruz struck out 10, walked five and allowed one unearned run in six innings as San Fernando advanced to the championship game of the La Canada tournament.

St. Francis 6, Poly 5--The Golden Knights scored three times in the bottom of the seventh in a second-round game of the La Canada tournament.

With two out and two strikes, Gregg Zaun stroked the first of three consecutive St. Francis doubles to trigger the rally. Zaun was four for four, including two doubles and a triple.

Irvine 12, Newbury Park 7--Host Irvine scored 10 runs in the first four innings of the second-round game of the Loara tournament. Dan Madsen drove in two runs for Newbury Park (2-1-1).

COLLEGE

Mission 4, East L.A. 3--Right-handed reliever Juan Doroteo worked out of a bases-loaded, eighth-inning jam and Mission scored the winning run in the ninth in a Southern California Athletic Conference game at East L. A.

In the ninth, Jose Chavez walked and was replaced by pinch-runner Sean Barulli, who stole second and third. Barulli scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

SOFTBALL

CS Dominguez Hills 6-6, Cal Lutheran 2-0--Cal Lutheran had only two hits in the opener and three in the second game of a nonconference doubleheader at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Cal Lutheran standout DeeAndra Pilkington was spiked in the leg in the opener and will be sidelined indefinitely. CLU committed eight errors in the two games.
