Cal Lutheran 4-7, Point Loma Nazarene 0-2--The Kingsmen swept the Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader at Cal Lutheran.

In the first game, Cal Lutheran (18-7, 8-1) scored three times with two out in the second inning. Leonard Matsumoto hit a run-scoring single and Jeff Brouelette later added a two-run double. Cal Lutheran added a run in the fifth on a double by Anthony Espitia.

Jay Anderson (5-1) went the distance, striking out three and yielding four hits.

In the second game, the Kingsmen struck for four runs in the first inning. Brouelette hit a solo home run and Daren Schutzler followed with a two-run double. Tim Lewis added a run-scoring single.

Mike Clark (2-1) pitched seven innings to earn the win, allowing three hits and one earned run.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Pepperdine d. Cal State Northridge, 15-8, 4-15, 17-15, 15-11--Randy Bergstedt led Pepperdine with 32 kills and Geoff Hart added 22 in a Western Intercollegiate Volleyball Assn. match at Northridge.

Bob Samuelson led CSUN (7-16, 2-12 in conference play) with 25 kills, and Raphael Tulino and Ron Graening had 15 kills each.

The loss was the Matadors’ fifth in a row. Northridge’s last win was March 4 over UC San Diego.

Pepperdine is 15-8, 7-6.
