Community College Roundup : Golden West Edges Cypress in Men’s Tennis

Golden West College defeated Cypress, 5-4, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis match Thursday at Golden West.

Steve Arnott defeated Moses Kim, 7-5, 6-2; Scott Bivens defeated Rich Walker, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, and Paul Gummerson defeated Al Cristi, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, to pace Golden West.

Golden West is 4-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Cypress is 8-5, 3-4.

Orange Coast 9, Fullerton 0--Eric Rebitzer, Orange Coast’s No. 2 singles player, swept his sets, 6-0, 6-0, for the host Pirates (12-2, 6-1).

Saddleback 9, Riverside 0--Saddleback, the state’s top-ranked team, breezed to the victory at home. Ed Peregrino won his sets at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4, and Carl Hinds won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles for Saddleback (15-1 overall, 8-0 in conference).
