Cypress College, which defeated northern top-seeded team, San Mateo College, 1-0, in 10 innings in the first round on Friday, needed 20 innings to get a 1-0 verdict over the No. 2 seeded team from the north, West Valley, on Saturday in the losers’ bracket of the state community college softball tournament. The game lasted four hours.

Charger pitchers Colleen Moore and Sally Dugas combined for a six-hit shutout of the Vikings. Moore pitched 16 innings, striking out eight and walking four. Dugas, who got the victory in relief, threw the last four innings, striking out four.

The scoreless tie was broken in the top of the 20th when Vikings’ starter Stacey Mays hit Cypress’ Valori Sucatre with the bases loaded, forcing in Allyson Tatman.
