Mater Dei Goalie Ammann to Play Soccer for Titans

Mike Ammann, a graduate of Mater Dei High School, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Cal State Fullerton, the school announced Thursday.

Ammann, a goalie, was an All-Southern Section selection in soccer last season. He also was a kicker for the Monarch football team.

“Mike is one of the best soccer goalkeepers to ever come out of Orange County and one of the top prospects to ever sign with Cal State Fullerton,” Fullerton Coach Al Mistri said. “We are very excited to have him as part of the team.”

Ammann’s brother, Bob, played at Fullerton from 1983-86. He was a first-team All-Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. selection in 1986, when Fullerton won the conference title.

“Soccer is my number one sport, so that’s why I decided to play at Cal State Fullerton,” Ammann said.
