Tony Mandarich, the Green Bay Packers’ No. 1 draft pick, says he is considering taking $500,000 off his demand for a $2-million annual salary.

Mandarich, a 315-pound offensive tackle and the second overall choice in the National Football League draft, said he would accept less than the $11-million, six-year contract that quarterback Troy Aikman, the draft’s No. 1 pick, signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

Mandarich’s agent, Vern Sharbaugh, said he “never discussed that type of move” with Mandarich.
