Leach in Doubles Final of USTA Grass Court

The second-seeded team of Jon Leach of Laguna Beach and Jimmy Panagopoulos of Aurora, Ill., advanced to today’s doubles final by defeating Chris Numbers of El Cajon and Randall Ivey of Irvine, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, Saturday at the USTA Boys International Grass Court tennis tournament, which was forced indoors by rain.

Carlos Bustos of Coto de Caza and Brett Hansen-Dent of Newport Beach were eliminated by the top-seeded pair of Lars Beck, Villanova, Pa., and Sean Steinour of Vineland, N.J.

Beck and Steinour rallied from 0-3 in the second set for a 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (10-8) victory in the semifinals.
