Roy Jones Wins on Seventh-Round Knockout
Roy Jones Jr., the hard-luck boxer of the 1988 Olympics, won his third professional fight without a loss by stopping Ron Amundsen in the seventh round of a scheduled eight-round junior middleweight bout Sunday at Pensacola, Fla.
Jones dropped Amundsen with two left jabs and then a right cross. The fight was stopped at 2:42 of the seventh round as Amundsen fell back into the ropes.
Jones, a silver medalist at the Seoul Olympics, lost a disputed decision in the 156-pound, gold-medal bout to Park Si Hun, a South Korean. However, Jones was named as the most outstanding boxer of the Olympics.
