Pateadores Score 2-1 Upset of Nomads

The Mission Viejo Pateadores upset the La Jolla Nomads, 2-1, Sunday to advance to the semifinal round of the Huntington Beach 19-and-under boys’ soccer tournament at UC Irvine. La Jolla won the 19-and-under national championship earlier this summer in New York.
Casar Ovando scored for Mission Viejo with 10 minutes left in regulation to tie the score at 1. Neither team scored in the two overtimes. Mission Viejo won, 3-2, in the penalty-kick round, and was credited with the 2-1 victory.
Mission Viejo plays North Huntington Beach today in one semifinal at 11 a.m. at UC Irvine. The final will be played today at 3 p.m
