PREP ROUNDUP : University Upends Foothill to Advance in 4-A Water Polo

Tom Cummings had four goals and Chad Whicker three to lead University High School to a 10-8 victory over Foothill in a Southern Section 4-A water polo match Friday at Tustin High School.

University (13-12) was the third-place team from the Sea View League. Foothill (16-11) was the second-place team from the Century League. University advances to play top-seeded El Dorado Tuesday in the quarterfinal round.

In Southern Section second round 3-A water polo playoffs:

Marina 14, Hoover 4--Jason Cox and Bob Haefner each had four goals to lead Marina (23-6) at Golden West College. Marina plays Rowland Wednesday in the quarterfinals.

Capistrano Valley 11, Palm Springs 4--Paul Felton, the South Coast League player of the year, scored six goals to lead Capistrano Valley (24-1) at Saddleback.

In Southern Section second round 4-A girls’ volleyball playoffs:

Edison 3, Notre Dame Academy 0--Junior outside hitter Coby Hoffman had 12 kills and 12 digs to lead host Edison to a 15-9, 15-4, 16-14 victory. Senior setter Margot Neville had 27 assists, seven digs and seven blocks for Edison (12-5).
