Ron Papazian of Whittier Christian High School will resume his assault on the Orange County single-season touchdown record today when Whittier Christian meets Miraleste at Miraleste in the teams’ Olympic League finale.

Papazian, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound running back/linebacker, has scored 28 touchdowns in nine games this season. He needs four more to tie the county record of 32, set in 1984 by Jim Farrell of Esperanza.

Papazian is tied for sixth on the all-time list with Willie Gittens, who scored 28 touchdowns for Fountain Valley in 1978. Tied for second with 30 are Kerwin Bell of Edison (1979), Eric Fox of Capistrano Valley (1980) and Derek Brown of Servite (1988). Steve Morford scored 29 for Esperanza in 1982.
