Mater Dei Holds Its No. 1 Position in Basketball Poll

Mater Dei High School, coming off a 62-59 victory over Artesia, Los Angeles County’s No. 1 team, is the top-ranked team for the fifth consecutive week in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep basketball poll.
El Toro, ranked second last week, dropped to fourth after a 69-52 loss to unranked Dana Hills. Edison, ranked second two weeks ago, moved to the No. 2 spot. Corona del Mar makes its first appearance in the poll at No. 9.
In the featured game of the week, Edison plays host to 10th-ranked Marina at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

2. Edison (Sunset): 13-4
3. Tustin (Sea View): 15-2
4. El Toro (South Coast): 14-3
5. Mission Viejo (South Coast): 12-5
6. Ocean View (Sunset); 10-6
