Grant 6, Garfield 0--Grant recorded its eighth consecutive Northeastern League shutout as goalkeeper Elana Tuizer relied on a defense that did not allow a shot on goal.

Grant (12-2, 8-0) jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead on three goals by Amanda Walzer, who has scored more than 80 goals during her high school career.

Walzer moved to defense in the second half, and Anne Remmers, Valerie Pearce and Pam Williams scored for host Grant.

Chaminade 3, Notre Dame 0--Chaminade goalie Kathy Regan earned her 12th shutout of the season in a San Fernando Valley League match at Chaminade.

Chaminade (16-2-2, 3-1-1), ranked third in the Southern Section 2-A Division, led, 2-0, at halftime. Carla Coppa, Natalie Dill and Anne McDermott scored for Chaminade.

Louisville 3, Crossroads 2--Erin Joyce scored the winning goal for visiting Louisville on a pass from Sonia Freeman with about five minutes left in the San Fernando Valley League match.

Gabriella Nichols scored two first-half goals for Louisville (9-5-2, 3-1-1). Crossroads is 0-4 in league play.

El Camino Real 1, Granada Hills 0--Sophomore center Tatum Mahoney’s left-footed 20-yard shot with five minutes left broke a scoreless deadlock in the West Valley League match at Granada Hills.

Mahoney’s unassisted goal improved the second-place Conquistadores’ record to 9-2-1, 6-1-1 in league play. Granada Hills fell to 4-3-1 in league play.

Junior goalkeeper Alex Tolleson, with the help of fullbacks Stephanie Hopkinson and Erica Mangum, recorded her seventh shutout.

Thousand Oaks 2, Newbury Park 2 (OT)--Thousand Oaks’ Phronsie Franco sent the Marmonte League match into overtime by scoring her second goal of the match, on a direct penalty shot, midway through the second half.

Sophomore goalie Allison Hagen had five saves for visiting Thousand Oaks (11-2-2, 4-1-2).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Newbury Park 3, Thousand Oaks 1--Dave Feldman scored on an assist by Mike Betancourt to give Newbury Park a 1-0 first-half lead in a Marmonte League match at Thousand Oaks.

Newbury Park is 12-6-1, 4-2-1; Thousand Oaks is 4-9-2, 0-7-1.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Glendale Academy 72, Alta-Pasadena Christian 18 (game forfeited in third quarter)--Alta-Pasadena Christian walked off the court with 4 minutes 18 seconds left in the third quarter, reportedly because it was unhappy with the officiating.

Alta-Pasadena Christian received two technicals early in the nonleague game at Glendale Academy for not entering two players in the score book. Alta-Pasadena Christian’s walkout reportedly was precipitated by two technicals, one on an Alta-Pasadena Christian player and the other on a coach, that were called in the third quarter.

Chris Lindstadt led Glendale Academy (9-3) with 27 points. Glendale Academy’s Guy Nembhard and Brian Alexander scored 15 and 10 points.

L. A. Lutheran 59, Pacific Christian 49--L. A. Lutheran scored 20 points in the fourth quarter in a Heritage League game at Pacific Christian.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Hart 73, Burroughs 37--Oregon-bound Sara Wilson scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for Hart in a Foothill League game at Hart.

Alemany 62, St. Genevieve 39--Alemany’s Qina Shigematsu scored a career-high 18 points to pace first-place Alemany (14-6, 6-0) in a San Fernando Valley League game at St. Genevieve.

Christina Muller scored 18 points to lead St. Genevieve. Michelle McCarthy added 11 points.

Notre Dame 41, Chaminade 38--Chaminade scored nearly as many points in the fourth quarter, 18, as it scored in the first three quarters, 20, but it wasn’t enough to win a San Fernando Valley League game at Chaminade.

L. A. Baptist 56, Montclair Prep 29--L. A. Baptist leaped to a 13-1 advantage at home and cruised to its third consecutive Alpha League win. The Knights (9-4, 6-2) have won six of their past seven games.

Simi Valley 53, Westlake 49--Visiting Simi Valley jumped to a 10-point half-time lead against Westlake, the No. 1 team in 4-AA, and held on for the Marmonte League victory.

BOYS’ WRESTLING

El Camino Real 64, Birmingham 6--The Conquistadores flattened Birmingham in a Valley League meet at Birmingham.

Ted Glider (138 pounds), Roy Steinbock (145) and Andy Hasson (154) all recorded victories by pins for El Camino Real. Ali Afshar (105), Chris Kuhlen (126), Richie Jin (132), Saul Emard (165) and Young Lee (175) also recorded wins.
