Mt. Carmel 76, San Dieguito 62--Top-ranked Mt. Carmel outscored host San Dieguito, 21-4, in the third period after it was tied, 32-32, at the half. Shane Knight scored 31 to lead Mt. Carmel (18-3, 8-0). Sean Howard scored 20 for San Dieguito (8-10, 2-6).

Fallbrook 71, Orange Glen 31--Travis Teagle had 17 points and Chris Miller 14 as Fallbrook (14-6, 5-3) won easily against Orange Glen (0-14, 0-7).

Harbor League

Christian 88, Clairemont 52--Tony Clark scored 58 points, the third-highest total in section history, to lead Christian. Clark trails Mitchell Lilly of Madison, who scored 61 in 1976, and Bob Petrie of Julian, who had 60 in 1969.

Coronado 52, Marian Catholic 46--Coronado’s 16-7 third-quarter spurt lifted the Islanders at Marian Catholic (0-4, 7-10). Coronado’s Paul Carter and Marian’s Beto Martinez had 16 apiece. Coronado improved to 3-1, 13-7.

Avocado League

Escondido 80, Carlsbad 72 (OT)--Escondido’s Tyler Sommer hit both ends of a one-and-one with five seconds left to force overtime. Escondido continued Sommer’s success at the line, making 10 of 10 free throws in overtime. Sommer finished with 25 points for Escondido (5-9, 3-4). Calvin Coleman had 29 for Carlsbad (5-12, 2-5).

Ramona 71, San Marcos 53--Alfonso De La Nuez led Ramona (12-4, 4-3) with 25 points and six assists. Pat Griffith had 23 points for San Marcos (1-16, 0-7).

El Camino 95, Oceanside 65--Glenn Ankton scored 23 points and Jeff Reeves 21 as No. 10 El Camino (14-5, 7-0) routed visiting Oceanside. Jerry Garrett scored 24 points for Oceanside (8-10, 2-4).

City Central League

San Diego 49, Crawford 45--No. 8 San Diego outscored Crawford, 10-3, in the third quarter on the way to victory at home. Jerome Allen led all scorers with 20 points. Clark James added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Cavers (12-3, 3-1). Barry Randley had 12 for Crawford (14-5, 2-2).

City Eastern League

Morse 45, Serra 40--Darnell Cherry scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half as Morse rallied from a 27-15 halftime deficit. Morse (10-9, 2-2) outscored Serra (6-9, 0-4), 16-3, in the third quarter.

City Western League

USDHS 79, Mission Bay 40--USDHS led, 40-18, at halftime and rolled to the victory at home. Peter Ellis led USDHS (10-5, 3-1) with 15 points. Mission Bay is 3-11 and 1-3.

La Jolla 64, Kearny 53--Led by Lupe Estrada (21 points) and Justin Chaitin (14), La Jolla (4-14, 1-3) upset Kearny (13-7, 2-2). Darnay Scott had 16 for Kearny.

Grossmont 2-A

Valhalla 95, El Cajon Valley 55--Tony Lee’s 27 points and eight assists led the Norsemen at El Cajon Valley. Teammates Mark Dillon (13) and Brandon Chase (12) helped Valhalla improve to 4-0, 15-8. Valhalla’s David Earner pulled down 10 rebounds.

Metro Conference

Bonita Vista 77, Mar Vista 61--Rope Perry (15) and Randy Stoker (13) combined to lead the host Barons (13-6, 8-2). Teammate Matt Gibbs scored eight points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Mar Vista’s Tim O’Neal had a game high 20 points, and Elisha Burns scored 16.

Chula Vista 75, Southwest 54--Derek Chapman scored 26 points to lead Chula Vista (17-5, 8-1) at Southwest (6-16, 2-8).

Hilltop 65, Castle Park 64--Chris White scored 16 points as Hilltop (8-11, 5-5) rallied from a 52-50 fourth-quarter deficit at Castle Park. Tony Thompson led Castle Park (11-11, 5-5) with 17.

Nonleague

St. Augustine 92, University City 88 (OT)--Matt Kenney was five of six from the free throw line, and St. Augustine was nine of 10 in overtime to pull the upset of No. 4 University City at home. Greg Sedlacek (14 points, eight rebounds) scored with 30 seconds left to give Saints an 88-86 lead, and they never again trailed.

Kenney led all scorers with 26 points--four three-pointers--and pulled down eight rebounds; teammates Bryan Cantwell added 23 and Paul Mossuto added 21. For UC, Jerome Price scored 25 and Supe Hooper had 22.

Lincoln 75, Point Loma 70--Darryl McMillan scored 27 points to pace Lincoln (4-0, 14-8) at Point Loma. J.J. Stokes was 19 of 20 from the foul line and scored 41 points for the Pointers.

Citrus League

Borrego Springs 61, Midway Baptist 51--Scott Mitchell led Borrego Springs (7-6, 3-0) with 17 points.

Coastal League

Bishop’s 67, Julian 42--Brian Aalbers scored 18 points for first-place Bishop’s (15-4, 6-0).
