GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Jalewalia Scores 42 in La Quinta Victory

Amy Jalewalia scored 42 points to lead La Quinta High School to a 73-37 victory over visiting Garden Grove in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Friday.

It was the 54th consecutive league victory for La Quinta, which finished the regular season, 23-2, 14-0, in league.

Heather Brannan had 12 points, five steals and five assists, and Janet Kanno had six assists and four steals for La Quinta.

In other Garden Grove League games:

Kennedy 64, Pacifica 35--Valerie Ruiz had 25 points, Michelle Harris had 19 points and Debbie Hogan had 10 points and 15 rebounds for host Kennedy (14-10, 10-4).

Rancho Alamitos 59, Bolsa Grande 29--Jenny Newsome scored 17 points to lead host Rancho Alamitos (18-3, 12-2).

Santiago 41, Los Amigos 39--Becky Elcock scored 11 points to lead host Santiago (8-14, 5-9).

In the Angelus League:

Rosary 60, Bishop Montgomery 56 (OT)--Forward Laura Morris converted four consecutive free throws at the start of overtime to give host Rosary (12-8, 4-6) a four-point lead it never surrendered. Morris had a game-high 24 points.
