SOCCER PLAYOFFS : Simi Valley Overwhelms West Torrance
What Simi Valley High could not do in the first half of its Southern Section 4-A Division playoff opener against West Torrance on Friday, it more than made up for in the second.
After a scoreless opening half, the Pioneers scored seven goals and recorded their 15th shutout of the season in a 7-0 win at Simi Valley.
Midfielder Andre Markarian and forward Brian Weaver each scored twice and Kenny Greninger had two assists to pace the top-ranked Pioneers (25-1-0).
Simi Valley, the Marmonte League champion, outshot the Warriors, 23-2. The Pioneers win total this season establishes a school record, according to Coach Andy Silva.
