In the other semifinal:

Monroe 2, Bell 1 (OT)--Fullback Oscar Rios scored on a head shot off a Jose Tenorio corner kick with five minutes remaining in sudden-death overtime.

Forward Mario Cazares scored 20 minutes into the first half on Yuri Gutierrez’s assist to give Monroe, a wild-card entry from the Mid-Valley League, a 1-0 lead.

GIRLS’ CITY SECTION

Chatsworth 4, San Pedro 2--Junior forward Kris Bassler scored three goals and had one assist to lead Chatsworth into the final.

Chatsworth will play Palisades at Birmingham on Saturday.

GIRLS’ SOUTHERN SECTION

Royal 2, Esperanza 1--Staci Blough’s two goals carried unranked Royal (19-5-1) past third-seeded Esperanza in a 4-A second-round match at Royal.

BOYS’ SOUTHERN SECTION

St. Francis 2, Buena 0--Justin Johnston recorded his sixth consecutive shutout to lead host St. Francis (17-1-1). David Beall and Kevin Hurley each scored.
