Neighbors Up in Arms

Re “Residents Defeated in Appeal of Airport Noise Case,” my sympathy goes out to the residents of Burbank who have been fighting Burbank Airport. But it’s no longer just a Burbank issue. Living in my home in Sherman Oaks is like living next to the runway at Burbank Airport. Since August of 1989, when the airport changed their flight patterns, my home has been unlivable. And I’ll bet plenty of people in Studio City, Encino, Van Nuys, etc., feel the same.

How ridiculous to say that noise from the airport peaked in 1973. Since Southwest Airlines started flying, the noise level has increased 15%. And with the expansion plans, it will go up and up. Do we really want another LAX in the Valley?

If we can’t win, then at least be fair! Make half the flights take off to the east over Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena, the people who own the airport and are making money off of it.
