Mike Turner of Woodland Hills, who won the championship in 1987, and Ken Cruz of Yorba Linda each fired four-under-par 68s at Griffith Park to share the opening-round lead in the Los Angeles City golf championships.
Cruz’s round included a hole in one on the 175-yard par 3 fifth hole at Harding with a 6 iron.
Turner and Cruz held a one-stroke lead over Ray Navis of The Farms, Corby Segal of DeBell and Ed Susolik of Arcadia.
Today’s second round will be played on the Wilson course at Griffith Park with the final two rounds next weekend at Rancho Park.
