Andino, Beschen in Main Event of Oceanside Surfing

Dino Andino and Shane Beschen, both of San Clemente, were among the main-event qualifiers Wednesday in the Life’s a Beach surfing competition at the Oceanside Pier.

Andino will meet Laguna Beach’s Jeff Booth in the first round of the main event today at 7 a.m. Beschen will face Glen Winton of Australia in another first-round matchup. The finals are scheduled for Sunday.

Other county surfers to qualify were Matt Archbold of San Clemente, Mike Parsons of Laguna Beach and Jamie Brisick of San Clemente. Nea Post of Huntington Beach advanced to the second round of the women’s competition.

Qualifiers in the longboard competition included Richie Collins of Newport Beach, David Nuuhiwa of Huntington Beach, David Paskowitz of San Clemente and Bill Stewart of San Clemente.
