According to NCAA regulations governing transfers from one four-year school to another, both players must redshirt next season. In 1991-92, Tanner will be a junior and Brodowy will be a sophomore.

Shane O’Brien, who will be a senior at Hart High in the fall, made a par putt on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff Wednesday to win the 16-17 age group division of the Junior Masters golf tournament at Westview Golf Club in Quincy, Ill.

O’Brien, 16, fired rounds of 73 and 74 to finish in a tie with Ryan Graff of Quincy at five-over par.

Both players parred the first two holes of sudden death before Graff made a bogey on the decisive hole.

O’Brien of Valencia will compete in the state junior amateur at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno from Monday to Wednesday.

Kristine Quance finished eighth in the 400-meter individual medley Monday at the Legion of European Nations Cup in Rome. Quance, 15, of Northridge, finished in 4 minutes 58.22 seconds.
