Master’s Loses, 3-2, in Soccer Opener

The Master’s College allowed only one shot on goal in the second half, but Fresno Pacific scored on its lone opportunity and held on for a 3-2 win in a soccer opener at The Master’s.
Master’s, ranked 12th in the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics preseason poll, outshot unranked Fresno Pacific, 17-6, but never led in the District 3 match.
Master’s trailed at halftime, 2-1.
Chris Palm scored Master’s first goal on a pass from Randy Whitfield, who also assisted on Mariano Calabretta’s second-half goal.
Master’s lost an opportunity to tie when a second-half shot hit a goal post.
