ROUNDUP : Moorpark Opens With Soccer Win

Eric Gunter broke the ice for the Moorpark College men’s soccer team in its opener by heading in a tying first-half goal, and the Raiders went on to beat Fullerton, 3-1, in a nonconference match Friday at Fullerton.
Moorpark pulled away with second-half goals by Robert Harris and Billy Kranz. Fullerton scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick.
“First half we were flat,” said Moorpark Coach Frank Parodi, whose team has eight returning starters. “Second half was all us. We got our rhythm going.”
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Oak Park d. Santa Clara, 15-3, 3-15, 9-15, 15-12, 15-11--Middle blocker Kristine Butler led Oak Park on both sides of the net, finishing with 13 kills, five aces and five stuff blocks, in a nonconference opener at Oak Park.
Setter Stephanie Warman had 21 assists and eight aces for Oak Park. Kelli Romney added eight kills.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Crespi 9, Glendale 6--Vince Greco scored five goals to lead Crespi (3-0) to a quarterfinal win in the Bell Gardens tournament. Glendale is 1-1.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
La Canada 10, Hart 8--Jessica Mueller, Hart’s No. 2 singles player, won two of three matches, but teammates Megan Flaherty and Kirsten Peterson dropped two of three in the nonleague match at La Canada.
