Thomas Brennan, athletic director at Loyola College in Baltimore, will assume the same post at San Jose State in October, officials announced Tuesday.
“Dr. Brennan has the breadth and depth of experience that we have been looking for, and I am pleased to have him joining SJSU,” San Jose State President Gail Fullerton said.
Brennan, 38, has 14 years’ experience at Division I schools.
During four years at Loyola College, Brennan expanded the athletic department with the addition of an associate athletic director and, in keeping with his emphasis on academics, an academic athletic coordinator.
Brennan also encouraged fund raising by alumni and community members for athletic programs.
Before joining Loyola, Brennan was assistant and associate athletic director at the University of New Mexico and academic athletic coordinator at Syracuse University.
Brennan is scheduled to hold a news conference on the appointment Friday at San Jose State.
