Rancho Buena Vista 45, Mission Viejo 24--Mission Viejo held a 24-21 halftime lead, but that was the extent of the Diablos’ offense, and RBV ran away with the game matching the No. 4 team in Orange County vs. No. 3 in San Diego.

The Longhorns tied the game at 24 on a 25-yard field goal to open the third quarter, but the Diablos were driving toward their fourth consecutive touchdown when quarterback Tom Snowden fumbled the snap from center, the first of four consecutive turnovers.

RBV turned it into a 31-24 lead after Edric Hall rushed for 68 yards and Tyrone Cormier scored from five yards. On the second Mission Viejo play from scrimmage after that, Snowden threw the first of three second-half interceptions, and Cormier scored the fourth of his five touchdowns from 13 yards out to make it 38-24.

The Longhorns had rushes of 32, 68 and 53 yards in the second half and 67 and 40 in the first. They finished with 532 yards on the ground.

USDHS 18, Hoover 13--Touchdown returns of two fumbles and an interception were the story of a game controlled by defense. For Hoover (0-2), Dominique Waltower scored on a 72-yard interception return in the first quarter, and teammate Stanley Gardner returned a fumble 52 yards in the third. Scott Wahl scored touchdowns for USDHS (1-1) on a two-yard run and 20-yard fumble return.

Oceanside 46, La Jolla 20--Senior quarterback Ceasar Garcia of Oceanside (1-1) kicked, passed and ran all over La Jolla (1-1), throwing for three touchdowns, rushing 21 yards for another and kicking five extra points and a 22-yard field goal. La Jolla turned the ball over four times.

Bishop’s 47, Borrego 0--Bishop’s 27-point first quarter and 20-point second put the 45-point rule into play, and the game was ended at the half. Steve Vasil threw for touchdowns of 47, 29, and 21 for Bishop’s (1-1, 1-0). Ryan Smith, Langston Butcher and Grant Bailey each scored twice, and Bailey had an interception. Borrego fell to 0-2, 0-1.
