Newbury Park 17, Buena 0--Fullback Jeff Buchanan scored one touchdown on a two-yard run and set up another with a 21-yard pass reception as the Panthers broke open a defensive game in the second half at Ventura High.

Brandt Pile hit a 41-yard field goal in the second quarter to give Newbury Park a 3-0 halftime lead. Buchanan, who entered the game in the second half, scored on the short touchdown run in the third period, and his 21-yard reception from Zach Sutton set up an 11-yard scoring run by Sean Pence with 10:23 left.

Chuck Mullaney led Buena with 38 yards in eight carries. Quarterback Mike Dexter completed two of 15 for 51 yards.
