HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Thousand Oaks, Scherrei Defeat Simi Valley in Water Polo

Chuck Scherrei scored four goals to lead Thousand Oaks High to a 10-5 victory over Simi Valley in a Marmonte League water polo match at Thousand Oaks on Tuesday.

Bob Martinich added three goals and three assists for Thousand Oaks (8-6, 3-0 in league play). Thousand Oaks will play Royal (12-3, 3-0) in a battle for first place Thursday at Royal.

In other water polo matches:

Crespi 17, La Salle 3--Jean Michel scored a match-high six goals to lead the Celts in a San Fernando Valley League match at Woodcrest Pool in Encino.

Vince Greco had four goals for Crespi (12-2, 2-1).

Harvard 16, El Segundo 5--Jim Toring had six goals, Brian Border added five and goalie Antonio Gomez had 11 saves to pace the Saracens to a San Fernando League victory over El Segundo.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Thousand Oaks d. Newbury Park 15-7, 15-7, 15-7--Aimee Stone had 20 kills for Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League match at Newbury Park. Erikka Gulbranson had 12 kills and Jennifer Streltzoff had 48 assists for the Lancers (11-1, 7-0).

Royal d. Simi Valley, 15-4, 15-5, 15-7--Jennifer Hamilton had seven kills and Wende Brown had seven kills and eight digs for Royal in a Marmonte League match at Simi Valley.

Stacy Kaufmann had 14 service points for Royal (8-1, 6-1).

Notre Dame d. St. Bernard, 15-2, 15-11, 16-14--Mary Strong had 11 kills and Phylliss Francis added six to pace the Knights to a Mission League win.
