PRO FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : What, Robinson Panic? Leave That to Others

Share

The Rams are three games behind the San Francisco 49ers with the possibility of falling four back by the end of Sunday night’s game against the Bears in Chicago. But Coach John Robinson said he’s not about to panic over the situation.

“I don’t know what I can add to that,” Robinson said. “We’ve got to hope that something happens to (the 49ers) to let them come back to us. But our full attention has to on ourselves. We cannot look off into the sunset to see where they are.

“We have to have a strong sense of keeping confidence in ourselves and not overreacting to those kinds of questions. One of the things that’s happening to us is we’re playing in a very tense manner, uncertainly. Part of playing your best is being relaxed and in a flow, and that’s one of the things we’re not doing.”

The Rams have listed backup tackle Robert Cox as out of the game, meaning that starting right guard Duval Love will be the emergency backup tackle. Cox twisted his knee in practice Thursday. No ligament damage was found, but the knee is expected to be too sore for him to play. If Love is pressed into service at tackle, Bern Brostek, this year’s No. 1 draft choice, will play right guard. Both receiver Aaron Cox (hamstring injury) and nose tackle Alvin Wright (knee injury) are listed as probable.

For the Bears, starting quarterback Jim Harbaugh (broken rib) was taken off the injury report altogether and is expected to play; backup cornerback Maurice Douglass (ankle injury) is listed as doubtful; receiver Wendell Davis (hamstring injury) is questionable, and cornerback Donnell Woolford (leg injury) is probable.
