Oxnard 20, Hueneme 14--Hueneme quarterback David Andrade rushed for 52 yards, passed for 161 yards and scored two touchdowns, but the Vikings could not avoid their 19th loss in a row.
Hueneme (0-7, 0-4) outgained Oxnard (2-5, 2-2), 269 yards to 180. Hueneme dominated the second half offensively, but Oxnard quarterback Larry Bumpus ran 43 yards on a third-quarter keeper for the game’s final score.
Trailing, 6-0, Oxnard tied the score on a nine-yard run by Dan Duchai in the second period. With one second left in the half, Bumpus passed 12 yards to tight end Brooke Johnson for a touchdown that gave Oxnard a lead it never lost.
Oxnard’s Kenyon Lewis, who entered the game with 856 rushing yards, was held to 62 yards in 19 carries.
