Freddie Bradley is about to turn off the Juice.

With five rushing touchdowns in a 49-29 win over Santa Barbara City College on Saturday night, Bradley tied the national junior college record of 43 career regular-season rushing touchdowns. The record is held by O. J. Simpson and two other players.

Bradley finished with 283 yards in 39 carries and scored on runs of 21, six, 50, three and 45 yards.

Bradley also broke his own school single-game scoring record with 32 points in the Western State Conference game.

“It’s really special to me to be mentioned with O.J. Simpson as a ballplayer,” Bradley said after the game as he cradled the crown he won as the school homecoming king. “I’ve been trying to get my mind off of it, but my linemen make sure I know about it.”

Bradley scored the record-tying touchdown on a 45-yard run with slightly more than two minutes remaining.

Bradley ranks third on the all-time national scoring list with 286 points, 18 behind Simpson’s record 304. He has 148 points this season to place him seventh on the national single-season scoring chart and has two regular-season games remaining.

Meanwhile, on defense, Moorpark imposed a black reign.

Santa Barbara scored a pair of touchdowns in the final six minutes to make the margin respectable, but Moorpark limited Santa Barbara to 10 rushing yards and held highly touted quarterback Poncho Renteria to 158 yards and 15 completions in 30 attempts.

Sean Bevan relieved Renteria late in the game and led Santa Barbara’s final two scoring drives. Bevan completed eight of 15 passes for 104 yards in less than six minutes of playing time.

Moorpark’s Jamal Anderson added 59 yards in nine carries and had a 27-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Kris Dutra completed six of 11 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Del Marine completed four of seven for 77 yards.

Moorpark improved to 7-1, 6-1 in conference play and 3-0 in division play. Santa Barbara fell to 3-5, 2-5 and 0-3.

Santa Barbara broke on top on an eight-yard touchdown pass from Renteria to Shad Lara. The extra point was straight out of football follies, but Moorpark was not laughing.

After his holder fumbled the snap, kicker Patrik Schmidle took the ball and scrambled right. Trapped behind the line, Schmidle was hit so hard the ball popped out of his hands to teammate John Pyle in the end zone for a two-point conversion.

Bradley answered on Moorpark’s next series with a 21-yard touchdown run behind a block by Robert Perez. Bradley, who had 172 first-half rushing yards, tied the score with a two-point conversion run.
