HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

As expected, Mar Vista High School will forfeit its game tonight against Hilltop. Instead, the schools’ junior varsity teams will play. Mar Vista forfeited its game against Chula Vista last week because 18 players were ruled ineligible and the team was down to fewer than 10 healthy players.

Hilltop’s season is now over. The Lancers, who improve to 3-6, 2-5 in the Metro Conference with the forfeit, will not make the 3-A playoffs. Mar Vista will finish 1-9, 1-6.

At the end of his season, then Hilltop quarterback Jorge Munoz, a junior, is leading the county in yards per game (227) and touchdown passes (18).
