GIRLS’ ROUNDUP : Woodbridge Wins; Harry Sets Record

Deanna Harry scored 28 points and had a school-record 26 rebounds to lead Woodbridge High School to a 63-34 victory over Capistrano Valley in a first-round game of the Costa Mesa girls’ basketball tournament Wednesday.

The Warriors (8-1) outscored Capistrano Valley, 35-17, in the second half.

Alissa Farr scored 13 points for Capistrano Valley (6-3).

In other Costa Mesa tournament games:

Brea-Olinda 82, Santa Margarita 17--Jinelle Williams scored 23 points and had six rebounds in one half and Colleen Hudson had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Brea-Olinda (9-0).

San Clemente 50, Santa Ana 33--Heidi Rohner scored 15 points and Heather McGowen 23 to lead San Clemente.

Schurr 44, Trabuco Hills 43--Belinda Carillo converted two free throws with six seconds remaining to lift Schurr. Shelley Calhoun scored 13 for Trabuco Hills.

North Torrance 73, Irvine 41--Faith Hiroayama scored 17 for North Torrance. Joy North scored 12 points for Irvine.

Costa Mesa 66, Westminster 21--Olivia DiCamilli and Rachel Ward each scored 12 points for Costa Mesa (6-4).

Tustin 69, San Marcos 40--Christine Garner scored 22 and Shari Needham 17 for Tustin.

In the Marina girls’ basketball tournament:

Huntington Beach 53, Loara 49--Huntington Beach trailed, 28-25, at the half but rallied and outscored Loara, 15-7, in the third quarter. Janet Davis had 20 points for Huntington Beach (9-3). Tracy Titus had 29 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots for Loara (6-6). Deana Itow scored 14 points for Huntington Beach.

Estancia 71, El Toro 46--Melody Earle scored 22 points, Monique Sweet 21 and Patrice Lumpkin 18 to lead Estancia (10-0) in a first-round game. Tracy Heiser scored 18 for El Toro.

Edison 73, Mission Viejo 50--Erika Miller scored 21 points, Talia Crooks 17 and Melanie Iwamasa 12 for Edison (9-2), which plays Lakewood at 5:30 p.m. today.

Ocean View 66, Katella 60--Nikki Vivion scored 17 points to lead Ocean View (7-3). Ocean View led, 52-36, entering the fourth quarter before Katella rallied to close the margin.
