In other Orange Empire men’s basketball games:

Saddleback 94, Fullerton 88--Dee Boyer, who had 12 points, scored while being fouled and converted the free throw with 39 seconds left to give Saddleback (10-7, 1-0) a 92-86 lead. Kenny Caesar scored 20 points, Ray Ankton 19 and Patrick Brown 13 for Saddleback.

Golden West 82, Orange Coast 75--Scott Campbell scored 25 points and Ric Van Scoyoc scored 22 to lead Golden West (9-10, 1-0). Brian Spratt scored 21 for host Orange Coast (9-8, 0-1).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball:

Cypress 54, Rancho Santiago 47 (OT)--Cypress (2-16, 1-0) got its first conference victory since returning to play after taking the 1988-89 season off.

Rancho Santiago led, 34-20, with 15:10 left, but Cypress tied the score, 41-41, at the end of regulation. Jackie Boxley scored six of her 17 points in overtime and Aimee Tanos, who also scored 17 points, made two free throws with four seconds left to clinch the victory. Marianne Karp scored 18 points for Rancho Santiago (7-10, 0-1).

Golden West 104, Orange Coast 71--Jenny Sullivan scored 18 points to lead host Golden West (19-1, 1-0), which had seven of its nine players score in double figures. Golden West took a 13-0 lead and the game was never close. Kami Bigler scored 17 for Orange Coast.

Fullerton 67, Saddleback 58 (OT)--Candice Burnett hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to force overtime, and Vickie Evans scored six of her 18 points in the extra period for fifth-ranked Fullerton (15-3, 1-0). Erin Schimeneck had 22 points and 19 rebounds for 12th-ranked Saddleback (12-4, 0-1).
